"a mistake"
So it has been over a year since this change was done.
The code was reviewed and uploaded. Does this mean there is no oversight or is the oversight complicit in the code change? Multiple people have signed off on this. How did this go completely unnoticed for over a year now – even when there are reddit posts going back even to spring of this year talking about this. What is the justification for even geoblocking an entire country?
On top of the fact you have recently had a twitch event where they were ranking people as Arabs [good] and Sabra Enjoyers [bad] (Sabra is an Israeli hummus brand, not even that on the nose here) and the complete unhinged behavior from Hasan (outright glazing a Houthi terrorist, amongst other bullshit) it screams to me that there is a serious problem with Twitch dev culture.
I don't think the Sabra thing is that clearcut, honestly.
Sabra absolutely dominates the hummus section of American grocery stores. It's not that unusual for products that appeal to the western market to be regarded as inferior to those who have heritage in areas with the authentic product. This can often be true even if the product is technically produced in the home region, since what becomes popular is often what is adjusted to meet the tastes of the market.
