Godjak

About

Godjak refers to a series of Soyjaks based on the Christian God, mainly used in posts ridiculing religion over its laws and inconsistencies. First posted in March 2021, Godjak since maintained its popularity on 4chan and Soyjak.party, with multiple versions of Godjak being posted in the following years.

Origin

On March 26th, 2021, an anonymous user posted a Soyjak (Feraljak) edit of God in a thread about religion on 4chan's /qa/^[1] board. captioning the image with the Ten Commandments (edit and post shown below, left and right).

The image saw initial spread on 4chan's /qa/ board, at that time hijacked by the Soyjak community. For example, on April 6th, 2021, an anonymous 4chan^{[2] [3]} user posted a Soyjak version of My child will X meme format using Soyjak edits of Satan and God (shown below, left). On May 15th, 2021, a user made a Because it just is, okay?! post about Christianity (shown below, right). The catchphrase has actively been used as a part of Godjak posts in the following years.

Following the initial spread on /qa/, Godjak post appeared on other boards, including /pol/, /bant/ and /v/, and, following its creation, on the Soyjak.party imageboard. The earliest derivative version of Godjak, a Cobson variant,^[4] was posted on Soyjak.party some time prior to March 31st, 2022 (shown below, left). More versions of Godjak were created on Soyjak.party and archived on Soybooru^[5] (examples shown below, center and right).

From 4chan, Godjak posts saw further spread online through reposts on Reddit^{[7] [8] [9]} and other platforms. For example, on October 21st, 2021, Redditor nont48 posted a screenshot of a /qa/^[6] Godjak post that received over 1,200 upvotes in the /r/greentext subreddit in two years (shown below, left). On January 2nd, 2022, an unknown Redditor posted a screenshot of another /qa/ Godjak post to /r/greentext. The post gained over 2,900 upvotes in two years (shown below, right).
