Overview
Skibidi Toilet is a series of Source Filmmaker videos by YouTuber DaFuq!?Boom! featuring a remix of "Give It To Me" by Timbaland and "Dom Dom Yes Yes" by Biser King in which an army of toilets with men's heads coming out of them are shown singing the song in various settings. The series follows a plot about the Skibidi Toilets taking over the world and men with cameras for heads known as CameraHeads fighting against them. The first episode was uploaded as a YouTube Short in February 2023 and inspired more episodes over the following months, each gaining tens of millions of views. The series became a popular subject of memes, inspiring fan art and videos and other content on sites including YouTube, Twitter and TikTok.
History
Season 1
On February 7th, 2023, YouTuber[1] DaFuq!?Boom! posted a video set to a remix of "Give It To Me" and "Dom Dom Yes Yes" titled "skibidi toilet" where the camera tracks over to a toilet and a man's head pops out of it and starts singing the lyrics to "Dom Dom Yes Yes." The video gained over 37 million views in three months. The YouTuber uploaded three more episodes between then and March 11th, the third depicting multiplied "skibidi toilets" and one giant one marching through the streets of a city as if taking over and the fifth depicting flying skibidi toilets and military vehicles going to take them on. On March 29th, the YouTuber[2] uploaded a compilation of the first five episodes, dubbed the "first season," garnering over 38 million views in two months (shown below).
Skibidi Toilet is purportedly inspired by Ohio memes, as evidences by the first episode's description, reading, "toilet in Ohio."
Seasons 2 and 3
DaFuq!?Boom! continued the series over the following months. Between March 30th, 2023 and April 18th, he uploaded episodes six, seven and eight, the eighth episode showing the skibidi toilets about to go to war with a group of cameraheads. On April 19th, the YouTuber[3] uploaded a compilation of the episodes, deemed "season 2," garnering over 57 million views in a month (shown below).
Episodes nine, 10 and 11 were uploaded between April 25th and April 29th, showing the skibidi toilets increasing in power and winning the war. On April 29th, the YouTuber[4] uploaded a compilation of the episodes deemed "season 3," garnering over 108 million views in three weeks (shown below, right).
Season 4
Between May 1st and May 3rd, season 4, comprised of episodes 12, 13 and 14, were uploaded to YouTube,[5] with a full season compilation uploaded on May 4th, garnering over 61 million views in two weeks (shown below). These episodes depict the ongoing, increasingly violent war between the cameraheads and the skibidi toilets.
Seasons 5 and 6
Episodes 15 through 17 were uploaded to YouTube[6] between May 5th and 7th, depicting the efforts of the camera heads to take down the skibidi toilets. The season 5 compilation was uploaded on May 8th, garnering over 41 million views in 10 days (shown below, left). Episodes 18 through 20 were uploaded to YouTube[7] between May 9th and May 11th, the full season 6 compilation uploaded on May 12th, garnering over 67 million views in a week (shown below, right).
Season 7 and 8
Between May 13th and 15th, the YouTuber[8] uploaded episodes 21 to 23, depicting the cameraheads defending themselves against the skibidi toilets. The season 7 compilation was uploaded on May 16th, garnering over 24 million views in two days (shown below).
On May 17th and 18th, the YouTuber[9][10] uploaded two more episodes of the series, garnering over 23 million and 3 million views respectively in two days (shown below, left and right).
On May 19th, the YouTuber[11] posted episode 26 of Skibidi Toilet, garnering over 1.4 million views in under four hours. On May 20th, the YouTuber[12] posted the full season 8 collection, garnering over 37 million views in six days (shown below).
Season 9 + TikTok Premiere
On May 24th, the YouTuber[13] released a compilation video of all season 9 episodes, which were uploaded between May 21st to 23rd, garnering over 12 million views in two days (shown below).
On May 28th, DaFuq!?Boom! started posting all previous and future episodes, including some bonus content, to the TikTok[16] page @defuqboomofficial, garnering over 1.6 million followers in two months.
Seasons 10 β 15
By July 10th, 2023, DaFuq!?Boom! had posted 49 episodes of the series, posting a compilation of season 15 that day, garnering over 12 million views in a week (shown below).
Seasons 16 β 22
By February 7th, 2024, seasons 16 through 22 of Skibidi Toilet were released on YouTube (season 22 shown below).
Online Presence / Impact
As the series became increasingly popular, people began making fan content and videos about the skibidi toilets. For example, on May 6th, 2023, YouTuber FANTOM Pro posted a video referencing the series that gained over 28 million views in two weeks (shown below, left). On May 17th, YouTuber BigSchool posted a video referencing the series, garnering over 4.9 million views in a day (shown below, right).
Skibidi Toilet saw a notable boost in popularity in July 2023. On July 9th, Twitter[14] user @AnimeSerbia posted screenshots of Skibidi Toilet memes, writing, "Went down a YouTube shorts algorithm rabbithole and found out what Gen Alphas slenderman is," garnering over 31,000 likes in a week. Later that day, the same Twitter[15] user quote-retweeted the post, writing, "I am not kidding. Gen Alpha watches this for hours a day. This is their slenderman. Look up skibidi toilet on youtube and see for yourself," garnering over 15,200 likes in the same span of time (shown below).
On July 14th, YouTuber Penguinz0 posted a reaction video about Skibidi Toilet, garnering over 2.1 million views in three days (shown below).
Tv Man and TV Woman
TV Man and TV Woman refer to a species of characters from the Skibidi Toilet web series depicted as men and women with TVs for heads that can display emotions via emoticons on their screens. TV Men first made cameo appearances in episodes 34 through 38, released in June 2023, making a more prominent appearance in episode 39. TV Woman first appeared in July's episode 49. Online, both characters have inspired fan art and memes.
Skibidi Toilet Syndrome
Skibidi Toilet Syndrome is a fake syndrome and slang term referring to the perceived negative effects that watching too much Skibidi Toilet has on children, allegedly causing them to act like Skibidi Toilets themselves. The term was coined in July 2023 by Indonesian web users and spread online after several videos went viral showing young children imitating Skibidi Toilet by popping out of containers and singing the Skibidi Dom Yes song. The syndrome inspired memes and some seemingly legitimate warnings from concerned parents online urging parents not to let their children watch the series.
Russian Police Investigation
On January 15th, Russian outlet Regnum reported that Russian police were investigating whether Skibidi Toilet, as well as its creator, had a detrimental effect on children after police received a complaint from a Moscow resident.
