What Is 'MILF Messenger' And Is It Really More Popular Than Twitter? The Viral iPhone App Explained
Twitter / X users across the platform are shocked to learn about an alleged iPhone app called "MILF Messenger" has hit number four on the App Store's "top charts." The app, which is assumedly used to message MILFs, is purportedly only one place behind the Bluesky app, leaving many confused.
But what is "MILF Messenger" exactly and is it even real? Here's what you need to know.
What Is 'MILF Messenger?'
MILF Messenger is a fake iPhone application that was first conceived by X user @Dandeli0ness back in July 2023. That month, the user posted an edited screenshot showing the app in the number six spot on the App Store's "top free apps" charts.
While the screenshot is convincing, a quick search of the Apple App Store reveals that the app does not actually exist.
Recently, amid a surge in user signups of the X-alternative app Bluesky, a Bluesky user posted a new edit of the App Store charts showing MILF Messenger in the number four spot, just below Bluesky. The screenshot quickly began to spread across both Bluesky and X, with many seemingly believing it to be real.
How Is 'MILF Messenger' Used In Memes?
As the MILF Messenger screenshot spreads online, some users are falling into its trap. They believe that the app is real and are wondering exactly what it is and how it's become so popular that it surpassed the X app.
This has inspired a lot of posts dunking on Elon Musk for harming the popularity of X, alongside posts celebrating Bluesky for becoming so popular.
Beyond this, some users are getting in on the joke and making memes referencing MILF Messenger and its tagline, "Do NOT tell your wife about this app!"
One of the most viral memes is a version of the Small Brain Man Screaming at Big Brain Man meme that shows the big brain man thinking of nothing but MILF Messenger. Truly, he is a "man of culture."
