About

Gregnant refers to an image macro of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid main character Greg Heffley with a pregnant belly. The meme was popularized in 2016 after a compilation of the How Is Babby Formed? viral video shared a Yahoo! Answers post misspelling "pregnant" for "gregnant," with the Greg Heffley meme primarily spreading in the 2020s.

Origin

On October 20th, 2016, YouTube^[1] user @JTSexkik uploaded a video titled "how is prangent formed," in which he shared a collection of Yahoo! Answers posts awkwardly phrasing and misspelling the word "pregnant." One of the examples (shown below) replaces pregnant with "gregnant" in the phrase "Am I grenant?," which amassed over 48 million views and 1.3 million likes in seven years.

Spread

"Gregnant" became the source of various memes, parodies and fan art involving the Diary of a Wimpy Kid main character Greg Heffley during the 2020s. For instance, on April 14th, 2021, Redditor^[2] u/Stopplsongod posted a photoshopped version of Greg Heffley with a pregnant belly paired with the caption "OMG GREG IS GREGNANT." The post (shown below, left) amassed more than 142 upvotes and 10 comments in three years.

On July 2nd, 2021, Redditor^[3] u/how_do_i_type_ uploaded an image featuring the gregnant image (shown below, right), which amassed more than 175 upvotes and eight comments in two years.
